The Whiteley X Mark Seliger
Inspired by the iconic scale and legacy of The Whiteley’s, Seliger’s surreal, dreamlike world embodies his theme of ‘life-enhancing’. Working with celebrated set designer Tom Thurnaeur, each scene draws parallels with the pair’s recent collaboration on the Vanity Fair Oscar’s shoot and is a vision of fantastical eclecticism, meticulously curated to showcase The Whiteley’s iconic stature against the best in contemporary design. The result is an experience like no other: a location steeped in history where unexpected possibilities unfurl behind this Grade One listed exterior, where The Whiteley’s history and glamour combine to create unique, dream-filled stories.
And Poppy Delevingne is perfectly at home here. Effortlessly embodying The Whiteley as a place where cutting edge meets elegant tradition, the London-raised model is an ethereal presence in a series of vintage high-fashion gowns from design legends including Tom Ford at YSL and Zac Posen.
Poppy already has a deep connection with The Whiteley. ‘The Whiteley was where I spent most of my teenage years bowling, ice-skating and generally misbehaving. It was a huge part of my childhood and now it’s this bright, brilliant and beautiful new establishment, and I can’t wait to get to know it in a whole new way.’
Seliger, too, is no stranger to icons: he’s worked extensively with Rolling Stone and is the photographer behind instantly-recognisable images of Nirvana, Jerry Seinfeld and Obama. ‘Working with Mark has been an absolute dream come true,’ says Poppy. ‘I have known his work all of my life, and to be able to say that I’ve worked with him, it’s truly a pinch me moment.’
